The menu

The menu looks as follows:

Game properties

Under game properties you can:

- Game properties or : Enter blindsizes, rake, rakeback and dead money
- Stacksizes or : Enter stacksizes of all players
- Tournament properties : Enter stacksizes of other players in the tournament as well as prize structure.
- Edit preflop selection or : Set an order for the starting hands:

Options

- Run settings: In case of Monte carlo you can enter the number of trial runs used.
- Clear data or : Clear the tree of all data
- Equity run or : Calculate all equities and percentages in a tree. No EV's are calculated, however this option does not require all lines in a tree to end in showdown or fold.
- Sample run or : A trial run through the tree is performed and shown. If a checkpoint is in use the trial run will go through the checkpoint.
- EV run or : All EV's, equities and percentages in the tree are calculated. All lines in the tree must end in showdown or fold. If not, you get a sample of a run that did not end in the proper manner.
- Make graph or : With this option you can make a graph of variable X versus a measured property in a decision. The decision needs to be selected with a checkpoint. See the manual in the program under help->manual or the video manual (help->video manual) for a more detailed explanation.

- Toggle absolute/relative: If the setting is relative then all percentages are shown relative to a decision. All percentages of the actions in a decision will add up to 100%. If the setting is absolute then all percentages are displayed as the chance of reaching that part of the tree. Also in absolute mode, the absolute amount of money that you make in a certain line is shown. In relative mode, the EV is shown.

- Set checkpoint or : To tell the program to look at a particular decision when making a graph or a trial run you can set a checkpoint at that decision by clicking this and then clicking the decision.

- Shoving math tool or : See bottom of this page.

- Tournament mode: If this is turned on then all calculations in the tree will be performed with an ICM conversion. For this to work, you need to set the stacksizes of other players as well as the prize structure by going to "game properies->tournament properties" or by pressing .

- Bubble correction. Let's say we have 3 remaining players and the prize structure is 50, 30, 20. In reality all players have already won $20 and they are now playing for a prize structure of 30,10. If bubble correction is on then the 30,10 prize structure is used, otherwise the 50,30,20 one is used.

- Display tournament EV: An ICM conversion of the current stack is performed and displayed in a window.

- Limit betsizing: In the action menu the standard betsize will be the appropriate one in limit. Saves a lot of frustration.

Import hand

- With F3 or this button you can import hand histories by copy pasting them from tracker software. Be sure to select the correct site.
- Set rakeback per site: In order to automatically set your rakeback the program needs to know how much rakeback you get at each site. You can enter that here.
- Set cap per site: Same for the cap. Most sites use a maximum of $3 and $1 for heads up, but this may vary. You can set it here.

Math engine

For heads up play StoxEV features a very powerful math engine. It can do range versus range with weighing. Results are measured down to the individual holecards. The program detects automatically if it can use the math engine or if it needs to use Monte Carlo.
- Use speedup: For the mathematical solution to work tables have to be loaded into memory. This takes about 300Mb of memory. The speedup also makes the monte carlo run about twice as fast.
- Mathematical solution: If this is turned off then MC is used when the math engine could have been used.
- Forced enumeration: In case of wide ranges a speedup is used for the mathematical solution which is extremely accurate, but of course not exactly mathematically correct. If you turn on "Forced enumeration" then the results will be mathematically correct, but of course a bit slower.
- Merge monte carlo and math. The math engine does not calculate all the information that is calculated by the Monte Carlo method. For instance the composition of a hand is only done by the Monte Carlo method. If you want both, then select this option.

Extra

 - Make note. Press Alt+N to add a note to your file. It's displayed in the upper left and can be edited by double-clicking it. You can also add a note to a decision. To do this, hover over it and press Alt+N.

- Display hints or : When this is turned on and you hover over items in a tree, hints will be displayed.

- Draw odds data: Determines if the blue numbers below each decision with info on stacksize, betsize, odss are drawn.

- Draw handvalue data: Determines if the EV and equity data is drawn below a decision.

- Draw EV popup actions+conditions: When you hover over decisions, actions or conditions after an EV calc the performance of every holecard is shown in a matrix. These popups are rather large. To not display them for actions and conditions, turn off this option.

- Check for new version at startup: Self explanatory. Feel free to block this with your firewall if you so wish, it won't affect the program.
